My Favorite Mistake by Chelsea M. Cameron Review: Guiding Lights

My Favorite Mistake

By Chelsea M. Cameron

Adult Contemporary Romance

October 3, 2012

Taylor Caldwell can't decide if she wants to kiss her new college roommate or punch him.

On the one hand, Hunter Zaccadelli is a handsome, blue-eyed bundle of charm. On the other, he's a tattooed, guitar-playing bundle of bad boy. Maybe that's why Taylor's afraid of falling in love with him, or anyone else. She doesn't want to get burned, and even though her other roommates adore him, she wants him gone before it's too late.

Hunter himself has been been burned before, but the fact that Taylor calls him out on his crap and has the sexiest laugh ever make him decide maybe love isn't a lost cause. They make a bet: if she can convince him she truly loves or hates him, he'll leave the apartment--and leave her alone. The problem is, the more time they spend together, the less she hates him, and the more she moves toward love.

But when the man who holds the key to Taylor's fear of giving up her heart resurfaces and threatens to wreck everything, she has to decide: trust Hunter with her greatest secret, or do everything in her power to win that bet and drive him away forever.
Goodreads.com

"The first time I met Hunter Zaccadelli, I punched him in the face."

Taylor truly did! Day 1, move in day for her and her two college roommates and when she opens the door, her fourth roommate isn't the girl they were expecting but a wise "asshat." For the life of me, I couldn't figure out why Taylor had such animosity for Hunter. We have this gorgeous guy, he can sing, cook and is annoyingly charming. What's not to love? But for Taylor, her walls are impenetrable or so she thinks. She can't fall in love and she surely doesn't want to fall in love with Hunter.  She wants him gone before anything develops between them. Hunter has his own secrets, his own fortress of classified information and pain locked within himself.

What to do??

BET!!!

Yup, a bet, if she can convince him she truly loves or hates him then he'll leave the apartment.

However, the more Taylor and Hunter spend together, the more the connection deepens into something real, wholesome and powerful. Will Taylor and Hunter be each others guiding lights? Will they be strong enough to fix themselves and each other? Somehwere in this book I became hooked.

Hunter became worthy of book boyfriend status and I was rooting for him to kick down Taylor's walls, throw her on the recliner and kiss the hurt away.

"The only thing we can do is keep moving, even when it feels like you’re walking through a pit of cement.” -Hunter

<<<< Love him!!

Ladies and Gents, guess what time it is?!?!?! Chapter highlight time: Chapter 19!!! Sh*t hit the fan at the end of chapter 19. Who would have known Hunter had it in him? o_O

Reflected In You by Sylvia Day: Diamonds In The Sky Review

Refusing To Regret: Beautiful Disaster Review

Beautiful Disaster

by Jamie McGuire
May 2011
The new Abby Abernathy is a good girl. She doesn't drink or swear, and she has the appropriate percentage of cardigans in her wardrobe. Abby believes she has enough distance between her and the darkness of her past, but when she arrives at college with her best friend, her path to a new beginning is quickly challenged by Eastern University's Walking One-Night Stand.

Travis Maddox, lean, cut, and covered in tattoos, is exactly what Abby needs—and wants—to avoid. He spends his nights winning money in a floating fight ring, and his days as the ultimate college campus charmer. Intrigued by Abby’s resistance to his appeal, Travis tricks her into his daily life with a simple bet. If he loses, he must remain abstinent for a month. If Abby loses, she must live in Travis’s apartment for the same amount of time. Either way, Travis has no idea that he has met his match.
Travis Maddox umm.. RAWR

Beautiful Disaster Review :

Double review... sort of from SupaGurl and AM :)

SG : That was the most amazingly beautiful and fucked up stories I’ve read... in a while! I loved it!! Jamie can take words and make them into something wicked. I was pulled into this world... played with, enjoying it thoroughly then BAM I was a hot freakin mess!

These characters are real and flawed which makes me love them all the more for it. This is one of those stories that will bring out all the emotions in you. It will rip you apart at the seams and YOU will LOVE IT!

I honestly cannot wait to get my hands on Travis' POV book Walking Disaster *rawr*

AM:
Beautiful Disaster was the embodiment of roller coaster. The upheaval between what seems like a disastrous relationship into something that was beautiful and worked itself out. Ladies and Gents while reading BD you might feel like tiny little gymnast are doing cartwheels in your stomach, you may be overcome with sweaty palms, your heart will race, your eyes might become watery and tingling sensations may spread to your nether regions because face it- You experienced a ride! Disastrous? Maybe, but you made it and you are now filled with flushed cheeks, mussed up hair and a visit to the bathroom is needed.

SG:
I completely agree with what you just said up there... as a matter of fact I couldn't have said it better myself b/c that was exactly all the feelings I went through!

There will be No Spoilers. I don't ruin plots for people. So here's the basic gist, Abby, "Good Girl." Travis, "Bad Boy." <<<Notice the quotations? Not everything is as what it seems. Things that are fucked up, can be beautiful and things that seem good and ordered can be out of control, but what you make out of things, out of people well that's where the secret lies.

This is a YA book for mature readers. I would say 17+ for the adult situations, language and sexual behavior within the book.

I'm going to address a controversial issue here!!! Beautiful Disaster has been compared to another series floating around (which will not be named here.) It is Not like this other series. You will not find BDSM here.

SG: How did I not know it has been compared to "this other series"? Pulls head out of the sand :) I will say that There were times in this book where I may have done this..

But a story that is more realistic and relatable. Sometimes taking the risk of getting hurt by someone else is the most difficult thing to do. Both characters are relatable and real. Abby and Travis are not perfect.

Favorite chapter is 18!! *Tears*

Special Note: Jamie McGuire is releasing "Walking Disaster" in 2013. "Beautiful Disaster" narrated from Travis's POV. Looking forward to Walking Disaster's Epilogue!!

At several points in the book, I called up my friends or my brother and sister freaking out! At one point, I was about to turn Hulk green, rip the safety bar off this coaster and nose dive off this Beautiful Disaster. It was that intense!!

Beautiful Disaster 5 out 5 Stars. Ladies and Gents Enjoy!!

SG: Oh ... well I was going to give it ALL the Stars :) but yeah 5 out of 5 will be ok I guess...

Haha, Miss SupaGurl is too silly.

We'd Love to hear how Beautiful Disaster made you feel... Comment below!!

PS Could this possibly be Travis??

Bared to You by Sylvia Day REVIEW and Man Candy

Bared to You
by Sylvia Day
Release Date : June 12, 2012
Genre : Contemp
Gideon Cross came into my life like lightning in the darkness...

He was beautiful and brilliant, jagged and white-hot. I was drawn to him as I'd never been to anything or anyone in my life. I craved his touch like a drug, even knowing it would weaken me. I was flawed and damaged, and he opened those cracks in me so easily...

Gideon knew. He had demons of his own. And we would become the mirrors that reflected each other's most private wounds... and desires.

The bonds of his love transformed me, even as I prayed that the torment of our pasts didn't tear us apart...
So before we get to the review... I'm going to go on a Gideon Cross Picture display...
(yes I know they all look different...but RAWR)

Review:

My new co-blogger Arlene got me to read these... and I will tell her Thank You everyday if I need to because these books have just blown their way to my Top 5 books of all time!
can be found here
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/A3hWMrFCMAMhKzQ.jpg

Can you be addicted to a fictional character? Why hell yes you can! I am already in withdrawals .... two words for you GIDEON CROSS. I have only had one other book character get under my skin like he has and that is Vishous from BDB series. Gideon is a fucked up headcase on first look. He exudes sex and power. After his first contact with Eva he straight up tells her that he wants to fuck her.  He had me from the first time he RAN into her though. I will say that after you get more into the book... I get him I do. He's an Alpha male for sure and dominate oh how I love that. He is a powerful business man and looks damn good in his 3 piece suits! But looks just as great in pj pants... or nothing at all o.0

Eva is an emotional fucked up mess. She is an amazing character though. I feel what she feels ... every time. When she was riding high and feeling great I'm right there with her. When her heart is shattered.. mine is on the floor. You will be pulled into Eva and experience everything she feels right along with her. Question what she does, believe what she does. Sylvia writes THAT DAMN GOOD!

While reading there were times I needed a cold shower... or to hunt down the hubby. The sexual tension then the actual sex is amazingly written. You will need fans, Ice, Freezer or all the above to cool yourself down. The story line is a traumatic mess that will have you an emotional mess... In a good way! It's not sappy boo hoo either.

The second book Reflected in you is out NOW... so If you read this... prepare to want to DIVE right into the second one :) The third book is out in December 2012 I believe... *twitch*

The Devil's Metal Blog Tour *Review & Giveaways

Book Blurb:

It’s the summer of 1974 and 21-year old Dawn Emerson has only three things she wants to do: compete one last time in the Ellensburg Rodeo, win back her ex-boyfriend Ryan, and become the best damn music journalist at Central Washington University. But all her plans are left in the dust when she’s contacted by Creem magazine to go on the road with one of her favorite groups, the up-and-coming metal band, Hybrid.

At first the assignment reads like a dream come true. Not only will Dawn land some much-needed credibility as a female music journalist, but she'll finally get to experience life from the other side of the stage, and maybe crack the drunken, enigmatic code that is guitarist Sage Knightly. Instead, Dawn finds herself on an aging tour bus filled with ego-maniacs, band politics and a whole lot of sex, drugs and rock n’ roll. When monsters start showing up in dressing rooms and some of Sage’s groupies become increasingly strange and dangerous, Dawn discovers the band is not only going places – they’re going straight to Hell.

And Dawn has a backstage pass.

Review:

One wild ass ride! Great story with heat, action, drugs and ROCK N ROLL! This is such an amazingly well written story, from the get go you are in. There is a perfect balance between the band, the actual characters themselves, the backstage antics, and the expertly woven plot. Want to get an inside view of life on the road with a band in the 70's well look no further... Karina puts you smack in the middle of all the shiz!

Dawn : She is stumbling and trying to get her foot in the door with the music industry as a music journalist. While her ex-boyfriend is still on her mind and she is fixing to retire from the rodeo... she gets the opportunity she's been waiting for. This girl was just FanFreakintastic! I adored her from the start. She is a straight up fan. She has backbone when she needs it and other times she just a shy girl. I love how real she was written in this book.

The Band: Ah-Maz-ing! These guys and gal were all out Rock Stars!

Sage : oh HOT DAUM! I was drawn into him just as Dawn was... Everything she felt and thought about him became what a part of what I thought of him. He is a leader, a Giant freakin star and not at all what you would expect. Just Better!

I love how none of the relationships that Karina writes are just *swoon* fall into you kinda deals.. although I really enjoy those as well... Her's are special. The characters have flaws, real ones and the the building of the relationship is natural and well executed. The Characters have depth and are built up right in the story, it's amazing to read!

Groupies.. must be mentioned b/c hell what is a Rock n Roll band with out some Far Out groupies?? Well these are way freakin wicked! There is something way the hell off about certain ones in this book... and it will creep you out! Karina is amazing with the creep factor she puts just enough in to make you wanna sleep with the lights on and check under your damn bed!

Get This Book!!! You will not regret it...

Trish McCallan was born in Eugene, Oregon, and grew up in Washington State, where she began crafting stories at an early age. Her first books were illustrated in crayon, bound with red yarn, and sold for a nickel at her lemonade stand. Trish grew up to earn a bachelor’s degree in English literature with a concentration in creative writing from Western Washington University, taking jobs as a bookkeeper and human- resource specialist before finally quitting her day job to write full time. Forged in Fire came about after a marathon reading session, and a bottle of Nyquil that sparked a vivid dream. She lives today in eastern Washington. An avid animal lover, she currently shares her home with three golden retrievers, a black lab mix and a cat.

Five things that nobody knows about Trish McCallan
This blog tour makes the third one in twelve months, and there is one set of questions I have been dreading having to answer since I decided to open my life to public curiosity. Finally, the dice rolled and Heather brought the questions up.

Name five things that nobody knows about Trish McCallan.

I can only imagine the stunned disbelief my totally HONEST (honest!) answers are going to cause my unsuspecting readers. And I can only hope that the following revelations will not cause my fans to abandon my books and drive me back to the poor/dog house.

Truth #1) The two biggest misconceptions about Trish McCallan are gender and species. Readers have come to the erroneous conclusion that I’m female and human. In actuality my name is Einstein and I’m a male golden retriever. It’s no coincidence that my Facebook profile is a golden retriever puppy. I was a damn cute puppy too! And smart! Incredibly intelligent. Have you read Dean Koontz’s book Watchers? If not, I highly recommend it, because the hero of the book is a genetically engineered, genius level golden retriever named Einstein. Believe it or not, this book is a thinly disguised autobiography of my maternal grandfather, who I was named after. And yes, I am even smarter than my grandfather. The genetically engineered smart gene has mutated through the years to true brilliance. Not that I’m bragging, or anything . . . .

Truth #2) As the dozens of private detectives, FBI agents, CIA agents and Homeland Security agents who have investigated me through the years will tell you, there is no record that I existed until seven years ago. Which is because seven years ago, I was still sharing a whelping box with my eight brothers and sisters. I am only seven years old. In dog years, of course, I’m closer to 50.

Truth #3) Professional romance writer was not my first career choice. Prior to picking up the metaphorical pen, I was a professional movie star. Perhaps you’ve seen some of my work? Air Bud One, Two and Three? Beverly Hills Chihuahua? (I was in disguiseJ) But writing has long been a hobby of mine. Unlike my grandfather, who had to hire a ghost writer to tell his story, I was lucky enough to be born in a decade where computers can translate words to sentences. Once I was able to transcribe my barks into human words, I was set. Do you have any idea how impossible it is to maneuver pencil and pen when you have pads instead of fingers? And it takes forever to poke each key on a computer keyboard with a pencil gripped between my teeth, or spell out the words using scrabble letters like my grandfather did.

Truth #4) Because my heroes apparently read so realistically, I’m often asked whether Trish McCallan is a pen name for an actual Navy SEAL. I’ve always laughed this accusation off, but since I am being so open and honest with you all- I might as well come clean about this, too. Yes, I was a Navy SEAL. But, because golden retrievers have such a good old boy reputation, I was forced to disguise myself as an attack German Shepard. (being a master of disguises comes in handy) Unfortunately, the sudden and painful onslaught of hip dysplasia force my retirement from the Navy.

Truth #5) And the last thing people don’t know about me is what I look like. I have avoided posting pictures of myself (with the exception of my puppy picture) online because I knew the photo would give the game away. But now that you know who I truly am, let me regale you with my gorgeousness.  This is the REAL Trish McCallan.

Review:

Cover: The cover for this book is what drew me in when I first read this book before... It's hot! and the promise of some Hot SEALs .. Even better!

Forged In Fire has it all ... Action, suspense, some para, romance and some hot ass men. The writing just makes it all come together in one Kick ass wild ride of a book!

Beth is a cool and calm gal. When she has a dream then the next day everything seems to be happening the way it did in her dream... she gets a little freaked. Beth is a downright awesome character!

Zane... oh how I could go on for days about his fine ass! Zane is the LC of SEALs team 7 and a force to be reckoned with..
He is fiercely loyal to his team, he is also very valuable to them. I LOVED everything about him. He's drawn to Beth the instant he sees her and with everything else he does he puts his all into protecting her.

The rest of the SEALs team are just as amazing and I cannot wait to get to know them better! Cosky and Rawls are gonna make me love them as much as I do Zane, I just know it.

I cannot go into detail about the story line without giving things away. Let's just say that it's a twisty good ride! The romance side is just fucking hot!!!

There is a mention of JR Wards BDB *which I love love* about throwing out bonding scents and saying Mine! Mine! Mine! ... I really laughed at this... b/c Zane can really be that kind of Alpha Male... RAWR!!

So... What do you need to do? GET THIS BOOK! Even if you read it before.. With the new Montlake version it's been updated!
